Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION
In collaboration with the Women's Health and Medical Services ensures the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the mammography area by planning and coordinating patient flow, work distribution, inventory control and quality control.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:
Must have CME credits, as required, for mammography certification as outlined by FDA requirements.
Knowledge of the performance of interventional (special) procedures.
Must be familiar with mammography imaging equipment, angiography suite equipment, quality control equipment and general office equipment
CERTIFICATION(S)/LICENSE(S):
New York State Radiographic license
ARRT certification (Mammography) is preferred
BLS/CPR is preferred
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
High school diploma or DED required. Associate degree preferred
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Minimum four-year experience

All Radiologic Technologists in Assignment Levels II and III shall receive a differential of $7,500 per annum to be cross-trained on different modalities of radiologic imaging and to be cross-assigned (once trained) to different imaging settings depending on patient volume and staffing needs within a facility.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform high quality radiologic, fluoroscopy, and mammography exams on incoming patients.
- Monitor patient's well-being during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.
- Respond to physician questions and needs regarding patients.
- Occasionally travel to our nearby centers to receive training and/or help with coverage.
- Participate in projects and/or meetings, as well as complete other tasks as assigned by management.
- Performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
- Selects proper mode to produce correct exposure factors.
- Evaluates images for diagnostic quality, obtaining additional images as needed.
- Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explains procedures to patients.
- Prints film or burns CDs if warranted. Matches with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
- Provides orientation to new Mammographers.
- Protection for patients, public and staff.
