Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Clerical Associates function as liaisons between patients, their families, physicians, nursing, administration and multiple other departments. They manage patient flow via EPIC (accept, transfer and discharge patients). They provide leadership with census reports, actively participate in unit PI projects, are responsible for interacting with our admitted patients to explain and secure patients' signatures on General Consent for Treatment, HIPPA, Acknowledgment of Receipt and Important Message forms and they prepare and secure signatures on discharge notices. Their responsible for checking the equipment on the unit and if damaged they call BioMed. They also check supplies and replenish them, keep work areas clean and organized.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

All Med. Surgical inpatient units

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cover inpatient units as necessary
• Assist ADN and Head Nurse with administrative tasks
• Keep DMS and other metric boards up-to-date
• Keep area organized
• Keep forms up-to-date
• Make sure supplies pars are adequate
• Ensure printers and copies have sufficient paper
• Complete Important Message & Discharge notification forms, present to patients, and scan into EPIC
• Prepare consent forms for Patient Representatives
• Notify Admitting Office of admission, expirations and transfers
• Answer telephone in a timely and professional manner
• Accurately record and transmit messages
• Locate doctors and nurses when needed
• Make telephone calls for patients
• Contact/locate providers for admissions, treatments etc. and make telephone calls to other divisions as directed
• Make appointment as directed
• Call for patient transportation as needed
• Contact agencies concerned with patient care

Minimum Qualifications
1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and
2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
