Each employee has a role to help New Mexicans and this role fills a critical need for the Lea County Public Health Offices.

Why does the job exist?

To provide direct client services Lea County in the Hobbs Public Health Office for sexually transmitted diseases, family planning needs, immunizations for adults and children, testing and treatment of tuberculosis, harm reduction services, and medication assisted treatment. To assist with mobilizing public health efforts around the SE region.

How does it get done?

This position will require travel daily to the Lea County Public Health Offices per schedule needs. Seeing clients for testing and treatment of STD's, family planning services, immunizations for adults and children, supporting the contract nurse practitioner in clinic. Testing and treating active tuberculosis and latent TB, providing syringe exchange services, and offering medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder. Maintaining standards of nursing care and practice and following HIPAA.
This will be a day travel position, as defined as leaving early morning and returning late afternoon in a state vehicle. This position has been created to fill in the resource drought that Lea County is experiencing. Once Lea County positions fill, this position's responsibilities and focus will change. This position with be the considered the trainer for onboarding nurses. Also, will be the resource to fill vacancies in various health offices throughout the southeast region as needed.

Clients and community of Lea County, and all individuals residing in the SE Region of New Mexico.

Ideal Candidate

1. Spanish speaking would be an advantage
2. Experience in a medical clinic setting
3. Experience in administering immunizations
4. Experience in testing and treating STDs
5. Experienced with application of protocols
6. Critical thinking skills and functioning autonomously in a clinic setting
7. Proficient with multiple computer programs

Minimum Qualification

Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Working Conditions

Daily car travel, driving state vehicle to and from public health offices in need of staffing/training. Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer
and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
