Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Epidemiology and Population Health is seeking a Research Administration Associate (RA) to manage the pre-award and post-award activity for all federal, state, and private foundation research grant awards for Investigators in the section. Will partner with the Section Administrator to ensure the success of the research mission within the section.

This position is eligible for a future hybrid work schedule.

Employees with Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification are eligible for certification pay.

Job Duties

  • Serve as liaison between Investigators, the Department of Medicine, BCM's Sponsored Programs Office, Sponsors, and Subrecipients.
  • Prepare grant and subcontract submissions internally in BRAIN and externally via NIH, CPRIT, DOD and other external sponsor websites including development of the budget & budget justification for the PIs review.
  • Assist PIs with preparation and submission of required reporting, ie, Progress Reports (RPPR), No Cost Extensions, etc.
  • Prepare outgoing subcontracts and review incoming subcontracts in collaboration with the SPO sub-award team and subrecipients PIs and their administrative POCs.
  • Ensure compliance with all guidelines needed in the processing of grants and awards.
  • Attend workshops on research administration for continued education and contribute to the development and improvement of the pre-/post- award management process.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Must be able to work independently, in a fast-paced environment, and with multiple PIs.
