We are seeking a full-time technician in a busy imaging core facility. Under the guidance of the core manager, the successful candidate will be a part of a team that provides expert assistance to the researchers of the Ragon in their utilization of the flow cytometry, cell sorting, and imaging resources of the core.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Please note, the functions below are representative of major duties that are typically associated with these positions. Specific responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. Similarly, not all duties that have been outlined will be assigned to each position.

  • Perform daily maintenance and operation of high speed cell sorters (FACSAria Fusion and SONY SH800)
  • Perform daily QC of flow cytometry analyzers (BD FACSymphony, LSR Fortessa, and LSR2, and Cytek Aurora) and other core instruments (Luminex bead array analyzers).
  • Provide user support and perform troubleshooting for core equipment.
  • Set up and prepare routine experiments as directed.
  • Maintain lab stocks and prepare basic solutions.
  • General upkeep of the facility.
  • Monitor supplies and place orders as necessary.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly invoices for billing.
  • Duties may be expanded to provide support for microscopy including a Cytek ImageStream, TissueFAXS slide scanners, and a Zeiss CD7 microscope (as assistance to the microscopy specialist on staff).
  • Some heavy lifting is required (reagent containers weighing up to 50 lbs


Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • BS/BA in Science


EXPERIENCE:

  • 0-3 years of experience


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in flow cytometry is preferred, but we are willing to train.
  • Some laboratory experience preferred (pipetting, measuring, autoclaving, etc).
  • Experience in cell culture is beneficial.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Ability to perform as a member of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Computer experience in common Microsoft applications.
  • Occasional evening flexibility may be required.
