The City of Phoenix is hiring for a Senior Security Engineer in the Information Technology Services Department. This position is responsible for the provisioning, deployment, configuration, and administration of security-related services, hardware, and software associated with firewalls, VPN, web, DLP, and access control. This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of network security and the protection of critical data and services ensuring compliance with information security policies, standards, and procedures.

Key job duties of this position include:
  • Supporting city wide IT projects by providing aid and guidance in implementing new and existing security controls, baselines, and systems integration.
  • Providing support for day-to-day operations of the City's network security infrastructure.
  • Provide incident response.
  • Participate in the development and execution of a security governance board.
  • Develop and implement information security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Other responsibilities as requested by leadership.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Ability to analyze the complex procedures and provide feedback for improvements.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and adapt to rapidly changing environments.
  • Ability to perform, and review highly complex network security operational activities.
  • Ability to directly manage highly complex network security projects.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for network security hardware and software installation and operation.
  • Strong understanding of servers, Microsoft infrastructure, virtual environments, and cloud technology.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of encryption technologies.

SALARY

Pay Range: $93,121.60 to $131,040.00/annually.

Hiring Range: $93,121.60 to $118,872.00/annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in Information Security.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Two years of experience working in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Two years of experience managing and maintaining enterprise class firewalls.
  • Two years of experience with IDS/IPS and log correlation tools.
  • Two years of experience working with network diagramming software, preferably Microsoft Visio.
  • One year of experience working with Virtual Private Networks.
  • One year of experience assessing information technology systems to determine potential cybersecurity risk to existing systems, services, and data.
  • One year of experience providing oversight on internal projects ensuring company policies, security best practice and data governance are met.
  • One year of experience working with web filtering and web proxy tools.
  • Experience directing and scheduling activities required to support critical systems and manage the implementation of critical patches and/or configuration in all layers of the infrastructure.
  • Experience managing and fine tuning IPS to address cyber security anomalies for identifying and mitigating incidents.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining DPL, VPN, Information Security, routing and switching (MPLS, BGP, IEGRP, etc.)
  • Experience evaluating Business Systems to identify cybersecurity risks and reporting findings.
  • Possess Network Security credentials such as CISSP (ISSAP/ ISSEP), CCSP, CCNA Security, and/or CCNP Security AME.
