Description

Cloud Operations - Security & Compliance team is responsible for OS level vulnerability remediation and Secured configuration deployment for American Express Linux & Windows Servers environment . The Sr Infrastructure Engineer position will provide day to day operational leadership and support for Linux Servers, patching, configuration deployments, vulnerability remediations and troubleshooting issues.

Responsibilities

Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for:

• Administering, patching and upgrading Linux operating system on physical and virtual machines and its software packages.

• Managing user creation, file/directory permissions, Job scheduling(at/cron), LVM, IP configurations, NFS, NIS, DNS, SSH, storage configurations, performance tuning (OS, network, I/O, Storage), write and debug shell scripts.

• SAN provisioning and multipathing configurations.

• Linux base scripting for backup and other automation task.

• Working with Virtualization technologies such as Vmware.

• Using automation/configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible or an equivalent.

• Closely working with Application development team and Database team for their requirement of server and storage resources.

• Ensuring connectivity among all the physical, virtual servers and SAN. Closely work with network teams and storage teams for any issues related to network or SAN.

• Configuring application specific kernel parameters, system hardening, implement firewall, memory, network and overall performance tuning of RHEL (OS, network, I/O, Storage).

• Drawing upon concepts of tools, technologies and methodologies to collaborate with other technical specialists when carrying out assigned duties.

• Maintaining skills to the current industry level of certification.

• Recognizing and articulating job related problems to management.

• Analyzing technical problems and creating solutions involving the use of existing techniques and/or tools.

• Strong understanding of file system concepts, server clustering technologies and methodologies

• Server Maintenance, Backups, Performance Audit & Logging.

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years proven experience of managing various Linux platforms.

• 5+ years experience with tools to manage, patch and support Linux operations

• Skilled in Linux patching process, troubleshooting issues and scripting (shell, Ansible etc)

• Self-motivation and strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are key attributes for this position

• Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule, and meet deadlines (work under pressure and prioritize tasks)

• Strong analytical and problem solving techniques

• Experience with servers management in VMware is preferred

• Bachelors in Computer Science/Management Information Systems or equivalent experience preferred

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
