Role Purpose

Drive the technical direction for operations and processes within the business units listed. This includes the development, design, installation, evaluation, and standardization of various processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop procedures, policies, standards, best methods, and drive their implementation.
  • Develop innovative new technologies that improve foaming process.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Manage capital projects from initiation, scoping, funding, scheduling, installation, testing, training
  • Monitor and support plant operations in achieving financial targets
  • APQP program support, launch support, and nodal communication.
  • Foster a highly interactive and interdependent problem solving climate among all associates.
  • Provide customer and supplier support on technical issues
  • Assist managers on resources needs and work with region to develop and mentor people.
  • Support process development and product development groups with creation of new technology
  • Industrialization and scale up of new technologies
  • Liaison between corporate and plant locations on technical matters
  • Effective communication at all levels within plant operations and all corporate and partner groups.


Qualifications

  • Technical degree with thorough knowledge of equipment, tooling, and systems in a molded and/or slabstock foam manufacturing environment including strong knowledge of urethane chemistry and its processing, systems design, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with Design for Manufacturability and Assembly, Lean Manufacturing, and the Assembly Planning Process
  • Strong understanding of SMED
  • Project management experience coupled with good organizational and problem solving skills
  • Experienced in managing technical contractors
  • Knowledge of regulatory codes, safety standards, and environmental requirements, and other related legislation.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Access)
  • Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems.
  • Capable of reading blue prints and schematics
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to all levels internally and externally
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, Kaizen
  • Fundamental knowledge in Chemical, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering
  • Travel Required 35% plus.
