SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: This role supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software, with a primary focus on Epic systems, at the nation's leading pediatric hospital. The position is critical in ensuring seamless patient care delivery, efficient registration, scheduling, and billing processes. The Senior Analyst partners closely with clinical, revenue cycle, and operational support teams to deliver innovative and effective EMR solutions that enhance healthcare operations and optimize patient outcomes. Project management and Epic build are key components of this role, requiring expertise in leading complex projects and ensuring that Epic systems are robust, efficient, and aligned with the hospital's strategic goals.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Build/Configuration/Release Management

  • Analyze, design, implement, and maintain complex systems to significantly improve clinical care and patient management, with a strong focus on Epic build processes.
  • Lead Epic system testing, document outcomes, and support release management efforts.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, demonstrating advanced problem-solving and technical solution skills within the Epic environment.
  • Utilize development lifecycle processes, operating procedures, and thorough documentation to implement and support system solutions, with a focus on Epic build efficiency.
  • Contribute to strategic planning efforts related to Epic systems, ensuring training and build environments remain current and effective.


Leadership and Mentoring

  • Take ownership of Epic build and project management tasks with a sense of urgency, driving them to completion.
  • Lead and mentor teams through Epic build challenges, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Set strategy and vision to support users through clinical system training, focusing on Epic applications.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts to identify and implement best practices in Epic build and training, fostering innovation and efficiency.


Professional Growth & Development

  • Maintain expertise in Epic systems by participating in educational opportunities and vendor-led sessions.
  • Lead instructional sessions, using Epic knowledge to enhance skills and drive system innovation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships, both internal and external to CCHMC, to ensure the success of Epic projects.


Project Management

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of new and enhanced Epic EMR requests.
  • Develop and manage project plans and documentation for complex Epic projects, coordinating resources effectively.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple Epic-related projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • Facilitate communication between internal and external parties, ensuring proper integration and adherence to project timelines.


Manage Customer Relationship

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with Epic end-users and stakeholders.
  • Ensure outstanding support is provided to users, adhering to Service Level Agreements and promoting Epic system adoption.
  • Plan, execute, and support user training on Epic systems, adhering to change management policies and procedures.
  • Model exceptional customer service, maintaining CCHMC's CARES standards.


Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of work experience in a related job discipline
  • Epic Certification (Cadence, Ambulatory, and/or Prelude)


Preferred:

  • Project management experience
  • Epic build experience


Unique Skills:

  • Experience creating Epic DEP (department) records
