Description of Work
The Nebraska College Preparatory Academy ( NCPA ) seeks a self-motivated and academically prepared professional to provide mental health counseling, mental health assessments, and education to NCPA high school students at Grand Island Senior High. The position will be a part of NCPA's wellness team under the supervision of the Associate Director of Wellness, and also be a professionally responsible member of an interdisciplinary Counseling and Psychological Services ( CAPS ) team, providing psychologically informed diagnostic services, treatment, consultation, and education to meet the emotional, educational, and developmental needs of NCPA students. The Senior Assistant Director will facilitate individual, group and relationship counseling and training seminars with NCPA students and NCPA staff. Additionally, the position serves as a liaison with assigned community and educational organizations. As the liaison the Senior Assistant Director will help facilitate individual and group college access presentations for students and families. Eligibility for licensure as a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner ( PLMHP )/Licensed Mental Health Practitioner ( LMHP ) in the State of Nebraska (must meet the requirements for sitting for the national exam for licensure at the time of hire) at time of hire. This is a grant-funded position, and some evening and weekend hours are required. The position may be remote due to the need to be in Grand Island Public Schools weekly. Determinations on official position location will occur with the supervisor and employee.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Master's degree plus one (1) year of experience providing support for first-generation, low-income, and minority students. Professional work and educational history will demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, public speaking experience, and ability to work independently. Considerable knowledge of personality theory, psychopathology, normal and abnormal development, techniques of psychotherapy, and factors relating to individual and social development and psychopathology. A strong demonstrated ability to develop effective therapeutic relationships with students. Sensitivity, knowledge, and effectiveness in working with diverse student populations, including ethnic minorities, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students, international students, and other under-represented groups. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with ethnic and culturally diverse groups of students, families, and educators at multiple levels including but not limited to parents, community and school leaders, and alumni. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision necessary.

Must have the ability to consult and present educational programs related to educational, developmental, and mental health issues. Must be eligible to obtain licensure as a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner ( PLMHP )/Licensed Mental Health Practitioner ( LMHP ) in the State of Nebraska.

Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will be knowledgeable in the Grand Island community.
Event planning experience and supervision experience preferred.
