This position is in the Furnace Deck (FD) Department which is responsible for design, operation and maintenance of chemical vapor deposition reactors and supporting equipment. This position resides within the FD support team, which is a team of engineers and technicians responsible for all technical aspects of product processing, reactor runs, and supporting equipment health within the department. As a Senior Engineer, core role responsibilities are centered around monitoring and maintaining both product and process health, collaborating with operators to ensure safe and effective process methods, developing and driving innovative solutions to reduce cost and cycle time, reduce product and process variation, increase department capacity, improving safety and ergonomics, and transitioning to use of automation and new technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical recommendations and solutions by investigating, evaluating, interfacing with stakeholders, troubleshooting and responding to maintenance/operator questions related to complex equipment. Collaboratively shares learning with peers.
  • Actively monitor key performance indicators pertaining to both product and process parameters. Perform statistical analyses through data mining with SQL and Minitab to identify process trends. Use RRCA and other troubleshooting methodology to resolve product quality issues or process upset events.
  • Propose and manage large projects (>$1M) at the moderate to complex level; effectively manage contractors and equipment and materials vendors. Ability to work independently and autonomously on complex projects and evaluate his/her work and exercise judgment.
  • Creates, reviews, revises, maintains, and organizes equipment documents and drawings for complex equipment and proprietary hardware designs.
  • Participates on or leads cross-functional teams to integrate the activities of multiple engineering disciplines, mechanics, and operators.
  • Interface with site DCS, learn process control fundamentals, and support advancement in department controls systems.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and Engineering Forms (EFs) are thorough, accurate, effective, and up to date.
  • Take an active role in meeting department and site Lean Manufacturing/CORE requirements.
  • Maintain a high commitment to quality, thoroughness, and efficiency in all work aspects
  • Observe and follow all quality, environmental, health and safety procedures.
  • Comply with all other Collins Aerospace policies and procedures.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident Green Card holder


Preferred Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Engineering (Chemical Engineering highly preferred) from an ABET accredited university with five to seven years of experience in the manufacturing or chemical/materials industries
  • Process engineering experience preferred with demonstrated project management experience
  • Knowledge of process control basics, experience with PLCs/DCS
  • Experience in data mining using systems such as SQL/Python/Minitab
  • Experience in process safety including participation in HAZOP/LOPA, PHAs, MOC and PSSR processes
  • Lean Manufacturing (CI / CORE) experience
