Job Title: Senior Product Engineer

Purpose of Position:

Avon Protection is a leading manufacturer of respiratory protection equipment and systems. To further strengthen our team, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Engineer with a deep understanding of SCBA products and accessories. They will be tasked with programming and managing new and improved products, as well as continually refining and enhancing the performance and cost of our protection products. As a Senior Product Engineer at Avon Protection, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety, while also staying ahead of the competition in terms of innovation and technology. This role will be reporting to the Technical Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Translate customer requirements into performance specifications and, ultimately products that meet those requirements.
  • Successfully launch new products to meet defined performance parameters using APS APQP process (GAINS)
  • Lead teams through the APQP process (APQP subject matter expert)
  • Create and support RFC documentation to implement approved changes.
  • Identify performance and/or cost improvements on current products and justify using PAF processes.
  • Work with new and existing suppliers to develop new products or improve current products as required.
  • Subject matter expert on preventative design tools such as DFMEA and CAE
  • Provide improvement ideas on the working practices of the department.
  • Support other departments on technical issues.
  • Deputize for the Technical Manager when required.
  • To support the team as necessary to support the targets set.


Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years in a Product Design position using APQP methodology.
  • Advanced Excel, MS Project, MS Office
  • Manage multiple projects/time management.
  • Disciplined problem-solving experience.
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods and their application to product design and process control
  • DFMEA development


Preferred Skill(s) and/or Experiences:
  • Pneumatic system design
  • Basic electromechanical design experience
  • SolidWorks

  • DFMEA
  • Statistics

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Cadillac, MI is $90,000 to $94,000 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
