Software Development Manager (Support Team)

A client of Insight Global in the lottery products and services industry is hiring for Software Development Manager to join their Support Team! This company is a global leader in providing customized, end-to-end gaming solutions to lottery and gaming organizations worldwide and develops an array of products and services including instant lottery games, lottery gaming systems, terminals and services, and Internet applications, as well as server-based interactive gaming machines.
This team supports the ongoing features and software support of lottery products for entire jurisdictions. The Manager will oversee ongoing projects for a lotteries Central Gaming System, managing multiple lotteries at a time (around 3). The manager is the primary owner of all aspects of software, from insuring requirements are clear to starting to sell and cash lottery products, billing the retailers, supporting government tax reporting, etc. New features, reports, interfaces to internal/external systems, and the people who develop them are the responsibility of the Manager. The Manager will oversee a team of around 6-8 developers. This is a challenging and rewarding position that is very highly respected within the company. The manager works together with site operations, and Corporate QA teams, to provide all aspects of quality customer service for changes to the central gaming system. All this requires a good mix of technical skill, verbal and written communication skills, project, and personnel management. The day-to-day job is to manage people, projects, guide software direction, review and or gather requirements, drive estimation, and deliver against those estimates. The Manager will report to a Director of Software Engineering and will be joining an impressive team of career minded professionals.

Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of management experience with experience in people leadership, annual evaluations, facilitating one-on-ones, escalations, etc.
- 5+ years of experience as a hands-on developer (preferably a C#/.Net background, but open to others) and experience with some sort of SQL Database.
- Strong experience managing large scale projects for a variety of customers at one time.
- Soft Skills:
o Strong decision maker -- ability to make decisions with limited evidence.
o Strong work ethic
o Ability to drive projects over the finish line and get stuff done.
o Passionate
- Strong communication skills -- will still be working in a client facing role and should have ability to work in a face paced environment.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience in a production or support environment working with end-clients.
- Experience in the lottery, gaming, hardware/payments, or retail transactional industries.
