We are searching for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join us as a Systems Engineer to support the operation of the United States Space Suit and Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) equipment in Windsor Locks, CT.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Real time mission support during Extra Vehicular Activities (EVAs)
  • Analyzing legacy hardware anomalies / life extensions / re-certifications / waivers
  • Development of new designs, redesign & upgrade hardware both for the current and future space suits
  • Reading engineering drawings, assessing operations and test sheets, as well as assessing data from ground and flight are all key abilities
  • EMU Systems Engineers are involved in assessing proposed engineering changes, making specification changes/updates, certification and recertification testing and reporting, customer interfacing for real time issues, monitoring system performance on EVA and many other related tasks, often involving customer interfacing


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Person or Green Card Holder
  • Bachelors degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience on hardware development program: proposal/development/manufacture/verification/operational support
  • Experience performing thermal/fluid/chemical analyses
  • Ability to work well both independently and within an integrated product development (IPD) team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent writing & math skills


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant component hardware experience: heat exchangers, pumps/fans/separators/motors/motor controllers, chemical beds, sensors, valves, accumulators
  • Relevant system experience: thermal control systems, air revitalization systems (CO2/H2O/trace contaminant removal), pressure control systems, potable water systems, or other equivalent systems
  • Experience supporting operational space flight hardware is highly desirable
  • Skills in DOORS & DXL, Matlab/Simulink/Simscape, Excel & VBA, Labview
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, MagicDraw & Cameo Modeler also desirable
