Job Description and Duties

STAFF SERVICES ANALYST - LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS / HEADQUARTERS

The reporting location for this position is Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direct supervision of Staff Services Manager II.

This is a great opportunity to learn and work on important policies impacting the Department and become an integral member of the legislative unit. With 280 State Parks, we are a fast paced team covering a broad range of topics and issues across the state.

Legislative Affairs is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, detail-oriented person who can work independently, with a high degree of initiative, demonstrating strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills, to perform a broad range of complex legislative analytical tasks and projects. Duties will include but are not limited to: assisting with bill review and tracking legislation impacting California State Parks, bill analysis, identifying potential programmatic impacts and costs, as well as policy considerations, presenting legislative recommendations, drafting bill language, Legislative Proposals, and Budget Change Proposals, communicating regularly with legislative staff, program leads, stakeholders, and Executive Staff.

This position is also responsible for receiving, reviewing, coordinating, and drafting responses to inquiries from the Legislature and routine legislative constituent inquiries.

Occasional travel to for site visits and meetings is required.

This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered.
