Job Summary/Basic Function

Environmental Health and Safety department is seeking a student to provide a variety of tasks to assist the office.

Required Qualifications

• Attention to detail
• Dependability in attendance and ability to take responsibility for productivity and quality of work.
• Basic skills with MS Office suite - especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Positive attitude and ability to work with a team.
• Ability to follow instructions and learn new skills.
• Ability to complete tasks independently.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Successful completion of driver's license check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience or basic understanding of fire codes, fire safety systems and alarms, fire extinguishers, safety standards, safe work practices, building inspections

Job Duties

• Provide office support by answering phones, returning emails and assisting customers (both internal to the campus and external).
• Sort, file and distribute documents/mail as needed.
• Perform campus deliveries and errands using university vehicle or walking
• Assist with fire drills.
• Conduct life safety inspections following outlined procedures.
• Assist with investigatory inspections of facilities or processes related to workplace injuries.
• Assist with hazardous waste storage inspections.
• Assist with emergency shower and eyewash inspections.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Must maintain a valid driver's license
• Must be able to walk to and from buildings on campus
• Ability to sit/stand for length of shift
• Ability to occasionally carry 5-10 pounds
