What You'll Do:
This position works under general direction and requires considerable knowledge of teacher education:
• Provides instruction in basic education needs(e.g., reading writing mathematics)
• Assesses educational needs of inmates
• Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
• Provides instruction and individual assistance
• Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
• Maintains discipline and/or security
• Counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
• Attends meetings as required
• Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
• Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
• Researches, selects, and recommends new teaching materials.
• Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development Performs other duties as assigned
