What We Do...
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction has been tasked with front line crime reduction through rehabilitative treatment and programming efforts provided in a safe, secure and humane correctional environment and effective community supervision. Our goal is to protect the public through helping individuals turn away from crime and become productive, contributing members of our communities, ensuring a safer Ohio for all Ohioans now and in the future.

What You'll Do:

•Provides instruction in culinary arts and individual assistance
•Assesses educational needs of inmates
•Plans and outlines necessary class objective
•Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
•Prepares and administers tests within the framework of the program
•Gives individual instruction and encouragement to the trainee as needed
•Maintains records of vocational students on attendance, achievement, attitude and conduct
•May order supplies and materials needed
•Issue and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies used in culinary arts program
•Work with other departments in the Institution as part of total team approach to the rehabilitation effort
•Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications
Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech - culinary arts & grade level as assigned*; Teacher 1, 71591, must also have baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement; NOTE: Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.
