This 24/7 facility uses the newest technology to assemble the majority of our shock-absorber production for three separate yet integral production groups Original Equipment (OE), Aftermarket (AM) and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV). We work with our customers to provide the right system for the desired ride from passive monotube shock absorbers to those that are adjustable, we have you covered for the optimal driving experience.

Summary: The Test Engineer supports all functions of Test Lab while being responsible for preparing for new projects, lab capability growth/improvement, and maintenance activities. This position will work closely with the Test Lab Supervisor as an internal customer and work towards ensuring that all technical and engineering topics are resolved for Test Lab operations to be successful.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Owns all Preventative Maintenance and Calibration topics for all Test Lab equipment
  • Owns powered lab operations uptime KPI for the Test Lab
  • Works with Plant Operations and Test Lab Supervisor to schedule all maintenance for the Test Lab equipment
  • Leads investigations and implementations of continuous improvement projects for Test Lab operations
  • Approves feasibility for new test methods and procedures
  • Develops cost vs. benefit analysis for potential new equipment / fixtures / devices for the lab operations
  • Maintains close relationship with equipment suppliers and external service providers for Test Lab equipment
  • Carries out local purchasing processes for procurement and maintenance of new equipment
  • Maintains, creates, and continuously improves work instructions for new and existing pieces of Test Lab equipment
  • Maintains Test Lab Scope as a controlled document
  • Responsible for collaborating with MPP Product to design optimized test fixturing for new projects and test methods
  • Responsible for the creation of non-standard machine drive files
  • Maintains database of test fixtures and assesses regular replacement
  • Interfaces with IT to solve any network or software-based problems preventing lab uptime
  • Interfaces with global counterparts to align on best practices
  • Supports NVH engineer unique data acquisition for special testing
  • Addresses topics of safety and ergonomics in Test Lab Operations from a technical standpoint
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Experience and understanding of working dangers associated with stored energy of test equipment, temp chambers, and servo-hydraulic machines.
  • Experience and understanding of data acquisition in lab environment including sampling rates, signal types, filters, and post processing software
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude, ability to work with tools.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings, electrical diagrams, test specifications, operation manuals, and specific materials.
  • Proven knowledge of machines energized with pneumatic, electrical or hydraulic pressure and ability to troubleshoot machine issues, as well as ability to think critical in situations.
  • Possesses a logical method of problem solving and willingness to learn and improve skills.
  • Demonstrates a strong motivation to meet and exceed customer requirements at all times.
  • Strong aptitude for taking notes and documenting tasks.
  • Proficient with CAD software i.e. Solid Works, AutoCAD, Catia, MS Office, etc.
  • Able to perform detailed work with a strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work ethic and willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking shortcuts).
  • Position is required to be able to lift up to 40 pounds, perform repetitious duties and walk or stand for long periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Willingness to work in a hands-on environment, including exposure to shock oil and grease.
  • Highly organized with ability to work well independently or as part of a team.
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
  • Well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and willingness with working in teams.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
