Description

Miami Jewish Health is one of the largest providers of healthcare and living options for aging adults in the Southeast. We operate Florida PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) Centers, the largest PACE program in Florida, which serves as health plan, healthcare provider, and social center designed for older adults with complex medical needs. We have four adult day health centers that serve participants in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Job Summary

Assists the rehab director in program growth, quality initiatives, employee management and department efficiency. Collaborates with site directors, physician, family members and other members of the healthcare team. Provides training and education to family/caregivers/staff and other professionals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists director in program growth, development, and departmental operations.
  • Supports the implementation and carry over of performance improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Assists with fiscal management and improving departmental efficiency.
  • Assists with employee evaluations.
  • Assists in aligning processes with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist with implementation of standardized processes across therapy departments.
  • Establishes a cooperative working relationship between the IDT, rehab team and other stakeholders.
  • Identifies potential problem situations, intervenes appropriately, and communicates such events to Director.
  • Works as a liaison across clinical service lines, including sub-acute and long-term care as needed.
  • Participates in and provides in-service education to facilities, supportive staff, students, and the community.
  • Assists clinical staff in patient care based on departmental needs.
  • Supervises and trains therapy staff.
  • Attends both departmental and IDT (interdisciplinary team) meetings as needed.


Job Requirements

Education

  • Master's or Doctorate degree preferred


Experience

  • Three years' experience in occupational therapy or physical therapy and experience working with the geriatric population.
  • Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Managerial experience preferred.


Licenses/Certifications

  • Florida licensed therapist (physical, occupational or speech language pathologist)
  • Current BLS certification from the AHA
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Proof of Auto Insurance

  • Current knowledge of safety issues needed in the treatment of patients, especially regarding body mechanics and body substance precautions to protect self, patients and personnel working with therapist.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Good problem solving and clinical judgment skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative, be adaptable and work well independently.
  • Be well organized, flexible, dependable, and punctual.
  • Ability to work well with staff, individuals, and participants of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to understand and adapt to multiple PACE sites and their operations.
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office, Excel)
