Description

Miami Jewish Health is one of the largest providers of healthcare and living options for aging adults in the Southeast. We operate Florida PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) Centers, the largest PACE program in Florida, which serves as health plan, healthcare provider, and social center designed for older adults with complex medical needs. We have four adult day health centers that serve participants in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Job Title: Transporter

Job Summary

Transport participants to and from various locations within a PACE facility, such as bus parking area, day care center, and therapy department. This may include transporting participants in wheelchairs or with their assistive devices, transferring them, and assisting with the transfer to and from beds, chairs, and wheelchairs.

Essential Job Functions

• Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure patient safety during transport. This may include securing patients, wheelchairs, and use of gait belt during walk.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of department.
• Maintains the cleanliness and organization of transport equipment and work area.
• Deliver equipment and supplies by picking up from one area of PACE and taking it to assigned areas.
• Adhere to PACE policies and procedures.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education

• High-school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Previous experience working with public and geriatric population preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association

Abilities Required

• Ability to lift and move patients with assistance.
• Ability to ensure patient safety during transportation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. This may include listening to them and showing compassion and understanding.
• Ability to communicate what is being done and where participant is being taken to and if appropriate, for what.
• Ability to listen with strong attention to details and ability to follow established protocols and procedures.
• Bilingual preferred

Environment Work Conditions

• Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation
• Ability to lift a minimum of 10lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, push/pull WC for extended periods of time
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead
• Fast-paced therapy department

Infectious Material Exposure

• Potential exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues
