Transportation Department - Route Specialist

Salary:

To be determined by the approved Walker County Board of Education Salary Schedule.

Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of three years experience in the pupil transportation department. Must have possessed an Alabama School Bus License for a minimum of three years.

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Pupil Transportation Supervisor,; the route specialist will assist in planning, coordinating and implementing bus routes, stop locations and bus turn-arounds. The route specialist will schedule monthly bus service for the bus drivers. The route specialist will order bus and vehicle parts, inventory bus and vehicle parts and assist in installing parts when needed. The route specialist will perform additional school bus related duties assigned by the Pupil Transportation Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

Maintain an Alabama School Bus Driver Certificate

Ensure that all bus routes are driver by certified bus drivers.

Assist in the recruitment, training and supervision of bus drivers.

Attend a 4-hour State Department of Transportation re-certification class annually.

Performs all duties in a manner that promotes good public relations.

Develops and maintains a professional relationship with all transportation employees.

Performs all job-related duties that are assigned.
