HDR is seeking a Transportation/Traffic Planning Project Manager for our Orlando Office. The individual in this position will be a key member of the Transportation Planning Section and will serve as a Project Manager for traffic related tasks and projects in the Central Florida area and help to lead, develop, and expand our local team. This person will also be responsible for the execution and production of major traffic analysis, transportation planning and research projects. The position will involve high-profile projects and extensive client interactions. The person in this position leads the development and production of required plans, studies, documents and reports and directs supporting staff. The person in this position contributes to scope development and execution in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals in multiple transportation and environmental disciplines. The person will be responsible for leading specific tasks and smaller projects, with opportunity for increasing project management responsibilities.

The individual in this position supports and leads tasks for large multi-disciplinary traffic and mobility planning projects that may include:

  • Traffic engineering studies such as speed studies, signal warrants, parking studies, access management, travel time, traffic impact studies, etc.
  • Operational Analysis (VISSIM, Synchro, HCS, etc.)
  • Highway/roadway safety analyses (including HSM, ISATe, etc.)
  • Multimodal mobility, active transportation, and complete streets planning and concept development
  • Local, regional and statewide multimodal transportation planning
  • Miscellaneous mobility, safety, and transportation research

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Well-developed analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills, including exceptional spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • The ability to establish client relationships in the market is critical.
  • Experience with transportation demand modeling inputs and outputs.
  • Experience with large datasets to support model building, calibration, and analysis.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • Extensive agency coordination, planning and programming experience is desired.
  • Programming skills in support of microsimulation.
  • Professional registration or license; PTOE preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • A minimum of 7 years related experience with traffic engineering/design and transportation planning projects/programs
  • A minimum of 2 years management experience
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
