Flint Hills Resources in Corpus Christi, Texas is looking for a Turnaround Planning Team Lead to join our team. As the Turnaround Planning Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of turnaround planning. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful management of turnaround projects, optimizing resources, and minimizing downtime for our facilities. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement comprehensive turnaround planning strategies, including reviewing scope definition, change request, developing Planning budgets, and Reviewing schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, engineering, and procurement teams, to ensure alignment and efficient execution of turnaround activities.
  • Lead and manage a team of planners to ensure accurate and timely development of work packages, job plans, and schedules.
  • Analyze historical data and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on turnaround Planning progress, identifying potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Foster a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency in turnaround planning.
  • Develop and maintain planning capability in all craft disciplines to allow work to flow efficiently.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and challenging the status quo with the objective of removing white space and constraints to the flow of work.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 7+ years of TA experience (i.e. Planning, Execution, Inspection, others) or industrial construction Project Management
  • Previous Supervisory and TA leadership experience
  • Solid understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and project management software.


What Will Put You Ahead

  • 10 + years of Proven experience in turnaround planning and execution in the refinery industry.
  • Knowledge of Lean concepts and principles and their application in an industry setting.
  • Experience in using Infor EAM and Planview LeanKit software tools.
  • Experience in data analytics and associated tools such as MS Power BI.
  • Experience in Using MS Projects
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.


This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un-escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
