Job Duties

The Training and Development Assistant serves to deliver, promote and progress individual and organizational effectiveness by creating and offering innovative and diverse programming and opportunities in support of the organization's commitment to patient-focused care, employee development, and organizational enrichment. This position serves to maintain departmental and employee training records in keeping with accrediting bodies; CMS, JACHO, DBHDS and DHRM standard. The Training and Development Assistant will be responsible for managing the agency Commonwealth of Virginia Learn Center (COVLC) by creating, updating, and modifying user access and information timely and accurately, as well as managing the electronic and paper filing for the department. The position will also serve as a Coach/Mentor to staff completing the College of Direct Support and Career Pathways programs. The Training and Development Assistant will work with the training team to assist with mandated and scheduled training in order to ensure success.

Job Duties:
~ Develop the agency's quarterly newsletter, the information board, and the electronic bulletin board.
~ Responsible for the administrative duties of the Training Department
~ Assist and disseminates promotional material in support of department training, activities and initiatives.
~ Maintain accurate records on all employees, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules, course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content and exam pass rates.
~ Manages the filing needs of the department, including employee training, DSP, CPR records, and any other information given to the training department regarding education and training.
~ Creates, updates, and modifies users' information in the Commonwealth of Virginia Learning Center (COVLC) with accuracy and within the designated timeframes.
~ Assist staff with any competencies or transcripts using the COVLC.
~ Teaches designated sessions in New Employee Orientation, along with senior employees.
~ Maintains certifications and teaches Therapeutic Options (TO) and CPR.
~ Oversees scheduling, set-up, take-down, and use of the training classroom.
~ Monitors progression of New Hire Sessions to ensure instructor and student schedule adherence.

Minimum Qualifications

~ Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
~ Ability to set-up and use audio/visual presentation equipment to include: laptop and computers
~ Experience delivering in-person training is required.
~ Experience using Microsoft applications for data entry and report generation is required.
~ The ability to work interactively with all clinical disciplines; including fostering effective interpersonal relationships with staff is also required; and
~ Ability to teach and coordinate Therapeutic Options and CPR programs effectively.
~Ability to pay close attention to detail and meet deadlines within established timeframes

Additional Considerations

~ Teaching experience in a healthcare setting is preferred;
~ Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is highly preferred;
~ Certification in TO and CPR are highly preferred;
~ Adult learning principles, curriculum design and implementation with adult audiences is preferred; and
~ Knowledge of health practices and principles is highly preferred.
