Warehouse Specialist I - Entry Level

Looking for a stable job with reliable weekday hours? We have an entry level warehouse opening at Lubbock State Supported Living Center.

The Warehouse Specialist I reports to the Warehouse Supervisor, Supply Services. Our team operates at each of our 23 facilities across the state, so come grow your career with us!

The purpose of this position is to assure the patients/residents we serve are supplied everything they need for daily living. This is accomplished through efficient logistical, inventory and warehouse work: receiving, processing, and storing incoming stock, pulling orders from inventory, delivering goods, and maintaining a safe and secure environment. This is a physically active and service-oriented position where a sense of energy, passion, honesty, good attendance, and personal responsibility are important.

This entry level role works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Essential Job Functions:
1. Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency and departmental leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

2. Picks and delivers warehouse stock to assigned units and departments on a scheduled or special needs basis either manually or with appropriate warehouse lifting devices. Delivers non-stock items to ordering departments in order to provide users with supplies and/or equipment in a timely manner. Loads and unloads supplies and equipment to and from delivery vehicles. Uses forklift, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. (45%)

3. Receives and assists with receiving shipments of commodities and equipment to include warehouse stock and special orders. Duties related to receiving include inspecting, counting, and checking items for compliance or damage and making notations on proper documents in accordance with the Supply Services SharePoint Procedures and Operating Instructions. (25%)

4. Enters data in MIMS and CAPPS Financials computer programs daily in order to provide accurate and timely issuance and receiving of warehouse stock and nonstock items. Assist with conducting inventories, reconciling variances and maintaining inventory of warehouse stock supplies. (20%)

5. Completes other duties as assigned. (10%)

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Ability to perform general warehouse operations to include shipping, receiving, issuing, customer service and inventory control.

Ability to use mechanical lifting devices to aid in the moving, transferring, and delivering of goods after training.

Ability to review warehouse rules, regulations, and policies for compliance and to follow departmental policy instructions for inventory control guidelines after training.

Ability to use a handheld device for the purpose of managing warehouse stock and receiving goods after training.

Ability be able to lift 50 pounds individually and team lift 100 pounds throughout a workday.

Knowledge of computer and software products.

Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

The ability to work effectively on a team and with customers.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Valid Class C Driver's License (Texas Driver's License preferred) to be checked yearly for any violations or suspensions. Forklift Driver Training - SAF0100, completion required within six (6) months of employment.

Initial Selection Criteria:
High School graduate or GED equivalent.

Work experience in inventory control and material handling equipment preferred.
