The Financial Control Division within the Department of Finance & Administration is the state's financial oversight body.

Why does the job exist?

This position will be responsible for validating and processing "purchase to payment" financial documents from state agencies and auditing of the state's procurement card program as well as other financial documents and transactions; ensure accurate, authority and propriety of expenditures and related payment to vendors that provide goods and services to the State of New Mexico and to ensure compliance with the procurement code and models of accounting practices.

How does it get done?

The incumbent will audit/approve purchase documents for the correct procurement code process; pre-audit financial documents for correct accounting of transactions; complete on-line approval of all financial documents; and conduct monthly post-audit for the states procurement card program.

This position will serve the State of New Mexico and its related agencies.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have familiarity with the State of New Mexico's procurement card program and auditing processed and possess experience in the following:
-Analyzing travel reimbursement documents to ensure compliance with the mileage and per diem act.
-Reviewing financial documents to ensure compliance with the requirements contained in the State of New Mexico's procurement code and model of accounting practices.
-Working with requisitions, purchase orders, accounts payable and journal entries.
-Working with the State of New Mexico's chart of accounts
-Working in SHARE 9.2

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance and/or budgeting. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
