ABOUT THIS POSITION

The City of Phoenix, Aviation Department manages and operates Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix Deer Valley Airport, and Phoenix Goodyear Airport. The Technology Division is seeking a highly motivated Application Developer to join the Business Applications and GIS team. IT professionals on this team work closely with professionals in other technology environments, other business units within the department, and in other City departments; thus, offering opportunities for continued professional growth. Additionally, technology training is available to allow employees the opportunity to enhance their technical skills.

Key duties include:
  • Follow proper service delivery methodologies and principles.
  • Manage and maintain airport websites and provide technical support.
  • Manage and upgrade an existing portfolio of applications, including security updates.
  • Actively engage in application system administration, detailed analysis, documentation, testing, implementation, and maintenance of business applications.
  • Work independently or as a member of a functional and technical services team to develop recommendations and enhancements to existing systems.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Able to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Able to translate technical language into clear, user-friendly communication.
  • Familiar with platforms like Jira, ServiceNow, Zendesk, etc.
  • Familiar with troubleshooting issues in cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of database management and query languages: Ability to troubleshoot data-related issues and write SQL queries.
  • Proficiency in coding and scripting languages: Experience in creating, modifying, and debugging code to support application functions.

SALARY

Pay Range: $67,849 - $110,510 annually.

Hiring Range: $67,849 - $100,235 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in computer applications programming and development and systems analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver license and have an acceptable driving record. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Customer support experience.
  • Experience in customer-facing technical roles.
  • Experience with quality assurance and testing.
  • Experience with cloud-based services and applications.
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex software applications.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and customer service tools.
  • Experience creating clear and readable technical documentation.
  • Experience creating, modifying, and debugging code to support application functions.
  • Experience debugging code, identifying bugs, and providing fixes or workarounds.
  • Experience developing software in a .Net or Java environment or similar programming languages.
