Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The ideal candidate for the position of Associate Director, is adaptive, both motivated and motivating, organized, an effective team leader and contributor, and a skilled problem-solver. The Associate Director will draw upon his/her understanding of change management methodologies and the project management process, to assist teams with quality improvement. He/she will establish cross-functional collaborations to engage stakeholders, execute performance improvement and promote sustainability.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Planning & Support: Use performance improvement methodology to develop multi-disciplinary teams to design change ideas and initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.

Establishing & Leading Teams: Support and facilitate performance improvement teams including scheduling and planning meetings to ensure that objectives are met and tasks are performed through shared decision-making.

Monitoring Progress: Develop project plan timelines. Combine individual expertise with that of the team to document quality improvement activities (using the Project Charter, Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Reporting Template etc.) and evaluate progress made towards goal attainment.

Performing Data Analysis for Outcomes Monitoring: Ability to effectively use data analysis tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel and Add-In programs such as QI Charts and Minitab, Tableu etc.) for entering, analyzing, interpreting and visualizing data.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide logistical support for meeting scheduling, coordination and communication.
2. Serve as a facilitator for project meetings, as well as committees and forums that are sustained by the Performance Improvement Department.
3. Guide teams through all phases of the improvement process, which includes setting project objectives, assessing current state of performance, designing and testing change ideas, selecting a family of measures to gauge achievements, and creating a sustainability plan.

4. Leverage understanding of statistical techniques to inform the process of analyzing, interpreting and presenting data via pivot tables, run and/or control charts, bar graphs, line graphs, histograms, pareto charts etc.
5. Build and foster understanding amongst individuals and teams of the various brainstorming and solution generation tools (e.g. Fishbone, Affinity Diagrams, SWOT Analysis, FMEA, process mapping and Driver Diagram etc.)
6. Review Project Charters, One-Pagers and other reporting templates to offer feedback to refine project goals, strengthen PDSA planning, metrics selection and data collection.
7. Prepare templates and documents to summarize project status and outcomes for internal and external reporting (e.g. for Board Report, Annual/Semi-Annual Governing Body or Facility-Based and System-Wide Committees.)
8. Utilize knowledge of program planning and assessment to support professional development initiatives.
9. Perform other responsibilities that are delegated by the Director or Chief Quality Officer.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,
2. Six years of full-time, paid experience of progressively responsible level in hospital administration with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or,
3. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital or Health Administration, Health Care Planning, Public Health, Administrative Medicine, Business Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,
4. Five years of full-time, paid experience as indicated in (2); or,
5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
