Job Description

Management of the safety, Hazardous Waste, Fire & Life Safety. This includes, but is not limited to the following areas: fire prevention and safety; hazardous material and waste; building and grounds safety, hazardous surveillance program, ensure the facility is code compliant. Management of the TJC EOC Plans - Safety, Hazmat, Fire Safety

  • Oversight and responsibility of Safety
  • Direction of the fire prevention program, work closely with FDNY and Utilities
  • Oversight of the hazardous chemical inventory program required by the NYC DEP and federal regulations
  • Development and coordination of the safety, hazardous material and waste and fire safety plans and annual evaluation required by Joint Commission and any evaluations required by CMS.


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,
2. Six years of full-time, paid experience of progressively responsible level in hospital administration with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or,
3. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital or Health Administration, Health Care Planning, Public Health, Administrative Medicine, Business Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,
4. Five years of full-time, paid experience as indicated in (2); or,
5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Department Preferences

  • CHSP (Certified Hospital Safety Professional) or (CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification
  • Valid FDNY F07 Certificate of Fitness
  • Experience in all aspects of safety field: including fire safety, hazardous materials and waste program, vehicle safety, grounds safety, occupancy regulations, guidelines for FDNY, OSHA, PESH, ANSI, TJC, OMH and National Safety Council, NYC DEP
