Select Events Basketball is a girls club basketball event operator based in Boston, MA. Running it's own premier independent league, The Select 40 in addition to our partnerships with the Girls Under Armour Association circuit, Select Events operates more than 40+ tournaments throughout the calender year.
Job Description:
The Select Event Assistant Regional Director role is a permanent position based remotely with the expectation of traveling to our events throughout the club basketball season. The Assistant Regional Director will work under the guidance of the Director of Operations to plan and execute operational duties required to activate our events.
Duties Include:
• Traveling to 10-12 events throughout the season to assist with on-site event activation
• Arranging all aspects of athletic travel including air, hotel, and rental cars
• Quickly adapting to travel changes for coworkers, clients, staff
• Collaborating with Senior Select Events Directors to determine operational needs and focuses for each event
• Managing inventory count of branding, POS systems, and other event supplies
• Communicating consistently with the 3Step warehouse to ensure supply pallets arrive at facilities
• Outreach to facilities prior to events, asking and answering any initial questions there may be
• Ordering catering, and supplies (trophies, branding etc) for necessary events
• Giving input on trends and opportunities to cut operations costs and maximize revenue
• Forecasting and researching flight cost patterns throughout the season
• Hiring Trainers, and additional staff (gate workers, scorekeepers)
• Directing an on-site staff
Desired Characteristics:
• B.S. or B.A. in Sports Management, Marketing, or other relevant field
• 2-3 years of professional experience in sport or event operations
• Experience with managing a travel budget, and group booking (Navan or Sabre knowledge a plus)
• Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Exceptional customer serice, organizational, and time-management skills
• Willing to travel to tournaments across the US throughout the season
• Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team
• Understanding of ground freight, ability to track multiple pallet loops across regions
• Prior event and/or operations management experience
• Able to work extended hours including nights and weekends (events)
• Highly proficient in time and deadline management
• Desire to be an industry leader in the sports world
