Duties & Responsibilities

  • Beacon Enterprise Support
  • Evaluate gap analysis for adoption of Enterprise level Beacon Protocols by various sites
  • Interview users and stakeholders to assess departmental needs to create business, functional, and technical requirements documents
  • Responsible for decision making and development of Enterprise standard Beacon Protocols for Onc and Non Onc indications
  • Organize and lead various Enterprise clinical content development meetings
  • Direct analysis of current state of medication order groups and propose standard build based on the current best practices and most up to date clinical guidelines
  • Lead the process of executing Enterprise standard medication order group build and present to various Clinical Councils for sign-off
  • Build and maintain site level relationship to enable timely completion of milestones, deliverables, and implementation of Enterprise level system
  • Collaborate with operational leaders for system validation and standardization
  • Participate in selection and recruitment of application analysts
  • Collaborate with team members and functional subject matter experts to implement and support organization's adoption of health information technology according to designed future-state workflows and consistent with best practices
  • Facilitate formulary standardization activities in support of organizational goals
  • Plan, lead, and participate in standard protocol build decision making to meet business needs
  • Develop documentation of test plans, technical documentation, release notes and training material as necessary
  • Utilize critical analysis to plan, problem solve, and to mitigate risk after deployment of Beacon clinical application
  • Assist with the technical build and maintenance of Enterprise chemotherapy protocols based on set standards and best practices, patient safely principles, and evidence based practice guidelines
  • Standardize and validate Enterprise chemotherapy protocols based on NCCN Chemotherapy Order Templates
  • Work closely with clinicians and departmental leadership to clarify needs, prioritize requests, design workflows to fit with electronic system, and execute changes
  • Function as a content Expert for Willow (Pharmacy) application
  • Work closely with other Epic application teams to ensure that all aspects of the clinical applications integrate properly with Willow and approve change requests affecting Willow build
  • Participate in selection and recruitment of application analysts
  • Direct and organize build projects around Beacon application enhancements and initiate the development of conceptual
  • Oversee development of system requirements based on observation of workflows and communication with stakeholders and propose redesign opportunities
  • Direct and initiate projects with cross-functional teams to compete and meet requirements within timeline and resource constrains provided
  • Responsible for approval of build enhancements following Change Management Policy and Procedure; ensure changes are managed correctly
  • Review and prioritize complex projects within the Program that are aligned with business and IT goals
  • Plan, lead, and execute project presentations including but not limited to updates to clinical and non-clinical Beacon workflows and Enterprise Standard Beacon protocols
  • Guide and mentor staff development
  • Manage communication within and across multiple Epic app teams
  • Responsible for the monitoring and project outcomes and impacts pre/post go live
  • Manage "On Call" schedule and provide additional on call coverage based on departmental needs
  • Develop and maintain various Beacon Team processes documents and analytical prototypes


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

  • EpicCare Ambulatory or Willow Certified
