Job Description

The Senior Director of Clinical Information Systems is responsible for identifying and moving forward initiatives that will improve workflows across the organization and support the project team. The Senior Director will become a trusted partner for H+H EITS and business stakeholders. These initiatives will enhance user satisfaction, streamline clinical workflows, and assure financial viability. The ideal candidate will understand clinical workflows and follow healthcare technology trends. The Senior Director will identify and implement solutions for existing and new clinical information systems - hardware, software, and middleware and technology supported by EITS. The Senior Director will be a visible leader with oversight for the initiatives, partnering with operations to implement sustainable workflows and the technical teams to support infrastructure activities. This role will require routine engagement with clinical and operational groups to develop and insure buy-in.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages directly and indirectly multiple CIS IT teams, focusing on supporting and optimizing workflows.
  • Establishes and maintains the relationship between EITS divisions and key operational stakeholders.
  • Provides a wide range of advisory services to departmental leadership in support of critical unit/departmental services.
  • Manages administrative and human resource operations needs of CIS IT teams including position control and staff on/offboarding.
  • Assists in the administrative management of specified functions and initiatives, including the interpretation of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Mentors and coaches staff on functionality, implementation methods, and support techniques.
  • Mentors and coaches staff on operational workflows and business procedures for responsible areas.
  • Contributes to the development of new programs, systems and/or procedures and ensure the successful functioning and efficiency of applications and integrations, as appropriate.
  • Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Collaborates with management in personnel performance evaluations, mandatory trainings and continuing education.
  • Works with team members in the development of career path.
  • Collaborates with departmental leadership and inter-disciplinary teams to recommend practical tools, processes, and practices that support developing effective solutions to operational issues.
  • Interviews users, stakeholders, and sponsors to assess project needs across the Enterprise.
  • Participates in contract review and provides input on budget needs and funding requests
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required.


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in hospital administration, health care planning, business administration, public administration or an approved related program and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and inter-organizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or
2. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and inter-organizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
