Under the general direction of the Business Services Operations (BSO) Manager, the incumbent performs technical, analytical, and physical work in support of the Office of Legislative Counsel's (OLC) business services (facilities, security, safety) program. The incumbent processes employee transition requests, issues badges, coordinates with the contracted security guards, and performs a broad range of related duties associated with BSO's remit. The incumbent may act as a lead over projects and Business Services Assistant (BSA) staff, oversee vendors and contractors, and recommend updates to policies and processes consistent with the OLC's building leases, statewide policy, and facilities management best practices.

Department Information
The Office of Legislative Counsel (OLC) is a small civil service department whose mission is to provide responsive nonpartisan and confidential legal services and information technology support services to the California State Legislature and in support of the legislative process. This position is located in the heart of downtown Sacramento. The State of California provides excellent health benefits and retirement options, sick leave and vacation accrual, and paid state holidays. School Transcripts:

To establish list eligibility as an SSA, you must take and pass the online SSA examination or have previously passed the written SSA Transfer examination, and meet minimum qualifications for the SSA classification.

Your Expertise
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio

Your Responsibilities
  • Review and respond to daily business service requests via email, phone, walk-in, etc.
  • Process employee transition requests, including accurately updating OLC master records of floor plans, telephone numbers, etc.
  • Work with managers and supervisors on assisting with facilities and access security needs, and regularly communicate with building management onsite support on resolving facilities-related issues
  • Knowledge of the security access system. Assist staff with OLC and Capitol badges
  • Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Coordinating office moves and other less complex projects
  • Other duties as needed
