Job Description:

The Career Services Coordinator at the Levin College of Law serves as the primary office support for the administrative functions of the office which include recruiting programs, database management and career related programming. This position will support the organization, implementation, and administration the on-campus and off-campus student job recruitment activities of the College's Office of Career and Professional Development. The goal of these activities will be to connect students with legal jobs over the summer and full-time legal jobs after graduation. The Career Services Coordinator must possess a high degree of self-direction and organizational skills due to the complexity of activities, the volume of work, and the fast-paced environment. Of critical importance is the ability to work positively and professionally with students, faculty, and staff, as well as with legal employers. The Career Services Coordinator will work with recruiting coordinators for legal employers, attorneys and other legal professionals, faculty and administrators, over 1000 students, and many alumni. The long-term relationships that are cultivated out of these interactions strengthen the entire law school community. The Career Services Coordinator must demonstrate superior judgment and act with considerable intelligence and diplomacy at all times. The Coordinator must also possess excellent data and technical skills and be self-directed in learning how to maximize the use of employment databases and other systems.

On-Campus Interviewing

The Career Services Coordinator will be the primary support for the Levin College of Law's on-campus interviewing (OCI) program. The Coordinator will oversee scheduling and other details for employers; ensure that OCI employers comply with all policies; develop and execute programming for students related to OCI procedures and protocols; ensure that OCI employers are able to review all documents from students; educate students about the OCI bidding process and execute that process in a consistent and efficient manner; provide access to OCI interview schedules; and facilitate video interviewing for employers and students.

Efficient Use of Symplicity and Other Technology Systems

The Career Services Coordinator will oversee the technological needs of the Office of Career and Professional Development. The Coordinator will ensure that the Symplicity database is fully and efficiently utilized by all constituents in support of both on-campus and off-campus interview opportunities. The Coordinator will answer employer and student questions regarding Symplicity, including questions about uploading resumes, responding to job postings, viewing employers, employer bidding, interview schedules, passwords, recruiting deadlines, and log-in information. The Coordinator will also analyze existing systems and review and implement technology upgrades for the Office, working with other staff members at the College of Law to ensure a seamless transition from admissions to student advising to job placement and to ensure that all appropriate data is captured. As part of this effort, the Coordinator will train other Office personnel and students on various software tools and stay up-to-date about technological advances in the career services arena. The Coordinator will also ensure that all instructions are precise, consistent, and aligned with the goals of the College of Law. Finally, the Coordinator will compile data and statistics related to job placement and assist with the tracking and reporting of student and alumni employment data.

Facilitation of Off-Campus Employment Opportunities

The Career Services Coordinator will work with employers to advertise job opportunities that are not part of the OCI program, particularly those that will increase the geographic reach of the Office. This will include developing and maintaining effective contact with legal employers from broad backgrounds who seek to advertise jobs; gathering and disseminating job openings and application procedures in Symplicity; ensuring all such employers comply with relevant policies; researching new employers; proactively identifying and addressing employer concerns; facilitating video interviewing for employers and students; and updating relevant employer information. In addition, the Coordinator will ensure that students are reimbursed by the College of Law for travel to out-of-state interviews.

Marketing and Communications
The Career Services Coordinator will serve as one of the first points of contact with students, employers, and the general public. This will include responsibility for the office's primary telephone and email communication systems. The Coordinator will be responsible for creating and sending communications to students and employers regarding events, programs and job opportunities.

Event Support and Other Duties as Assigned
The Career Services Coordinator will support the Office of Career and Professional Development by coordinating events and programming. The College of Law is growing and changing daily. All College of Law community members are expected to perform other duties as assigned in furtherance of our community goals.

Expected Salary:

$45,000 or commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* J.D.
* Experience working with professionals and/or students
* Excellent customer service skills
* Experience with Symplicity, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer programs
* Excellent verbal and written skills
* Knowledge of or experience with law schools or legal employers
