The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Psych - Behavioral Neurobiology, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I. This position supports and reports to the Principal Investigators (PI). Under general PI supervision, this individual operates with a high degree of independence and is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the study, including participant screening, recruitment, data collection, data entry, and literature searches, as well as supporting study's goals and objectives, providing administrative support (such as coordinating daily activities and scheduling). In collaboration with other study team members, this individual coordinates the study including participant follow-ups. This individual will work with vulnerable populations, across multiple healthcare and community settings, and will have a high degree of interpersonal communication skills and organizational skills. This individual is a general resource to other team members and community partners, as well as regulatory processes as requested by the IRB and funding agency.

General Responsibilities
  • To serve as coordinator for studies and provide support to other team members within the confines of the protocol as directed.
  • To support screening and participant eligibility determination, working with more senior team members to ensure compliance.
  • To conduct activities in accordance with the protocol, regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • To assist with the study life cycle from start-up to closure, i.e., collecting and recording data, recruiting and performing follow-up with participants, scheduling visits and assisting in coordination of lab and fieldwork.


Key Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Manages day-to-day grant activities.
  2. According to research protocols, screens, recruitments, consents, and enrolls prospective subjects, and performs data collection confidentially and according to secure procedures from electronic medical charts.
  3. Maintains a central calendar for study tracking and timelines.
  4. Collects and records preliminary data for clinical research programs.
  5. Recruits and performs follow-up with research participants as protocols outline.
  6. Performs data entry, cleaning, and coding.
  7. Schedule research staff meetings as identified by the PIs.
  8. Develops systems to coordinate, process, and track participant compensation.
  9. Orders and maintains supplies necessary to perform studies.
  10. Compiles documents and equipment for use in data collection activities.
  11. Coordinates with others pertinent to the project.
  12. Creates and organizes study files, data storage during study, and archives. Facilitates compliance relative to University, School of Medicine, and sponsor policies, inclusive of the ability to submit documents to IRB and monitor, and amend protocols as needed.
  13. Performs general clerical duties (faxing, scanning, routing messages, coordinating the purchase of study supplies/materials). May assist in compiling, editing, and proofing written reports for both internal and external administrative offices. May perform data analysis using a variety of software packages.
  14. Serves as a liaison with team members and others.
  15. Organizes patient enrollment planning.
  16. Compiles and analyzes data.
  17. Develops and implements procedures, maintains records, tracks progress, and conducts quality assurance on data collected.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.


Annual Salary Range: $43,890 - $71,320

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
