Description:
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved through the development, maintenance, support, and optimization of key functional areas, particularly in Linux systems, data center hardware, and cloud infrastructure. The role requires extensive experience with Linux operating systems, data center hardware solutions, and cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Key Responsibilities:
Linux Systems Management: Oversee the administration of Linux servers, ensuring system reliability, security, and performance. Develop automation scripts to streamline operations, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot complex issues that escalate beyond L1/L2 support.
Data Center Operations: Manage and monitor data center infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. This includes working with physical server hardware, storage solutions, and networking gear. Coordinate with vendors for procurement, installation, and problem resolution.
Cloud Infrastructure: Design, implement, and manage solutions within public cloud environments such as AWS and GCP. Optimize cloud resources for scalability, cost-efficiency, and security. Develop and maintain cloud architecture best practices and manage cloud migrations.
Security and Compliance: Implement and manage security solutions to protect data and infrastructure. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular system audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation.
Disaster Recovery and Backup: Design and manage disaster recovery and backup strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability across on-premises and cloud environments.
Collaboration and Support: Work closely with IT and development teams to support and implement high-availability solutions. Provide L3 support for complex incidents and problems. Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge sharing.
Project Management: Lead and participate in IT projects, from planning through execution. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
5+ years of experience in a systems engineering role, with a strong focus on Linux environments.
Deep knowledge of data center hardware and operations.
Proven experience with AWS and GCP, including certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
Experience in scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform).
Solid understanding of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, SSH).
Experience with security best practices and tools in both on-premises and cloud environments.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
Strong project management skills and experience.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education: Bachelors Degree
