Description

Coordinates communications activities in support of a university program, including, but not limited to, publications, newsletters, annual reports, web site, and informational and solicitation materials.
  1. Coordinates various communications projects, to include compiling, editing, and layout of materials.
  2. Works with other departments to research, obtain material and organize the content of written communications.
  3. Provides content for regular updates of the program web site.
  4. May be responsible for producing regularly recurring communications such as annual reports, monthly publications or newsletters.
  5. Provides writing and editing services for other communication projects as assigned.
  6. Represents the program at conferences and community events.
  7. Performs other job-related duties as required.

If you are a skilled content writer and expert AP editor and have an interest in hospitality, we want you to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for crafting engaging content tailored for alumni communications, donor relations materials, media relations content, speeches and other written materials. The role will ensure consistency and accuracy across all written communications.

Additional Information/Preferred Qualifications:

• Develop compelling written content for various platforms, including newsletters, emails, social media, website updates and print materials targeting alumni and donors.

• Edit and proofread content to ensure adherence to AP style guidelines, grammar, punctuation, tone and messaging while ensuring all written materials align with established standards.

• Write or provide talking points for speeches given by executive leadership and key stakeholders.

• Conduct thorough research on relevant topics and stay updated on industry trends to ensure content is informative and relevant.

• Assist in developing and maintaining content calendars and editorial schedules to meet deadlines and objectives, as well as content repositories and archives for easy access and retrieval.

• Experience in a variety of multimedia applications, including but not limited to web content management systems, social media and Adobe Creative Suite, i.e., lnDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop.

• Ability to produce engaging editorial writing across a myriad of print and digital communications platforms, including social channels, mass email, online platforms and promotional marketing and communications collateral.

• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Motivated, self-starter, detail-oriented, and creative individual with a willingness to learn. Possesses the ability to multitask and prioritize work responsibilities effectively, adapting seamlessly to varying workloads, from busy periods with tight deadlines to slower-paced periods.

• The applicant must demonstrate hospitality and friendliness, as they will frequently engage with both internal and external stakeholders in collaborative efforts.

Qualifications

Bachelors and 3 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
