TheCommunications Specialist is responsible for developing, executing, and measuring internal communications plans to support our mission of providing world-class energy solutions to meet the diverse and unique needs of our customers and employees. This role will collaborate with various internal departments to ensure communications goals are met and will contribute to creating a strong safety culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, execute, and measure internal communications efforts in alignment with the company's mission and safety culture, offering alternative solutions for decision-making and recommending optimal choices to support organizational goals, objectives, and budget parameters.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to promote events, training activities, and other employee updates.
  • Write, edit, and proofread promotional copy, flyers, banners, and other graphic communications collateral.
  • Create compelling content for internal communications channels, including daily internal newsletters, intranet, posters, flyers, and blogs.
  • Assist in creating topics and scheduling speakers for internal events such as town halls and virtual meetings.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal partners and business units to facilitate storytelling and accurate information sharing.
  • Attend company events as needed to support internal communications efforts.
  • Stay current with industry trends in energy, employee communications, public relations, and social media.
  • Contribute to project and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Respond to crisis communications situations, ensuring necessary updates to employees are delivered in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field from an accredited university, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task various critical work assignments proactively and independently in a fast-paced environment and in a professional manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel, Board members, media, and stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles and Associated Press Style.
  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal behaviors consistent with company core values.
  • Initiative to work independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results.
  • Self-directed with proven problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and provide recommendations that affect the section, department, and/or division.
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in the field of internal communications.
  • Ability to set priorities, organize work, and make occasional exceptions.
  • Willingness to work in a variety of locations, such as the field, construction centers, and the main office.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in developing employee communications for a variety of channels and audiences in a corporate environment, large public entity, or a public relations agency.
  • Experience in creating, writing, and editing copy for newsletters, blogs, website content, and communications collateral.
  • Experience working with deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously to ensure all internal communications needs are met.
  • Experience in addressing crisis communications situations.
