General description

As a DevOps Engineer within our enterprise IT environment, your role is pivotal in driving efficiency and collaboration across software development and operations teams. Drawing from industry best practices and leveraging cutting-edge technologies, your day-to-day involves orchestrating seamless integration of software systems, optimizing workflows, and providing top-tier support. You'll harness your expertise in tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and scripting languages to automate processes and ensure the scalability and reliability of our infrastructure. Your proficiency in Infrastructure as Code and automation of processes allows for the streamlined provisioning and configuration of resources, minimizing manual intervention and enhancing agility. Your adaptability to evolving technologies ensures that you're not only keeping pace with industry trends but also leading the charge in innovation. Work Hours

40-hour week, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend hours. Hours may change based on business needs and may vary in accordance with division polices for Work Alternative Schedules (WALT). Perform on-call rotation duty.

Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e. report to office 1 day/month, 3days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.



Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.

• Seven (7) years' experience in the following areas:

--> DevOps or related role, demonstrating a strong understanding of software development and operations.

--> Integrating software systems across platforms

--> Developing business specific workflow solutions based on technical requirements

--> Performing customer service in a large-scale enterprise IT environment

--> Software analysis and troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Management Information Systems.

• Administration of Jenkins automation server, building pipelines, automated testing, and observability.

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) and experience with automation tools.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible.

• Administration and implementation of Atlassian technical stack (i.e. Jira Confluence, BitBucket)

• Working knowledge of change management practices and procedures

• Understanding of change management technologies and their use in an enterprise environment.

Substitutions

One (1) additional year of the full-time minimum experience as stated above may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS (Preferred)

IT-related certifications or professional organization memberships.

In this role you will:

Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD)

• Develops, implements, and maintains robust CI/CD pipelines to automate software building, testing, and deployment processes.

• Collaborates with development teams to optimize code integration and release cycles.

Software Change Management

• Oversees software change management administration and support to the agency's Information Technology department. Oversees the work of project teams to ensure appropriate testing and integration of new or enhanced automation.

• Ensures compliance with IT and security policies and procedures

Deployments and Migrations

• Coordinates deployment and migration activities, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing projects.

• Develops and enforces best practices to enhance the reliability and predictability of deployment processes.

Process Review and Continuous Improvement

• Leads the review of existing DevOps and Software Change Management processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.

• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather feedback and enhance overall process effectiveness.

• Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives, staying informed about industry best practices.

• Implements changes and adjustments based on feedback and lessons learned from ongoing projects.

On-Call Responsibilities

• As part of a weekly rotation with other team members, collectively provides 24X7 coverage.

• Be the first point of contact for incidents that occur outside regular business hours.

• Conducts thorough troubleshooting to identify the root cause of issues affecting system performance.

• Facilitates emergency deployments and hotfixes when critical issues arise, ensuring minimal downtime.

Documentation and Training

• Maintains comprehensive documentation of processes and procedures, ensuring accessibility for all team members.

• Provides training sessions to facilitate the understanding and adoption of improved processes for team members and cross-functional teams.

Salary is contingent upon qualifications. CPA employees in the same job classification, if selected, will be laterally transferred with no increase in salary. (An example might be an Accounts Examiner III in Revenue Administration who moves to an Accounts Examiner III in the Enforcement division).
