Job Description

The Data Analyst in the Office of Ambulatory Care and Population Health will work with the Early Childhood Team at Central Office and colleagues across the health system to successfully support the clinical operations and expansion of early childhood initiatives across NYC H+H system, including the 3-2-1 IMPACT, Healthy Steps, Pediatric Community Health Workers, Reach Out and Read, and Integrated Behavioral Health across Women's Health and Pediatrics.
The Analyst will report directly to the Senior Data Lead to support NYC H+H's advanced pediatric primary care model that delivers family-centered coordinated care using a two-generational approach and integrating three disciplines across prenatal and early childhood primary care (women's health, behavioral health, pediatrics).

General tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Data Management and Infrastructure:
    Optimize data workflows, including data extraction, cleaning, and integration from electronic health records and other data sources.
    Implement and maintain processes for updating routine reports, automating data pipelines, and performing quality assurance checks.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    Utilize SQL, R, or Python to extract, clean, and analyze data from a central electronic medical record database and other sources.
    Maintain and enhance existing dashboards and create new dashboards using tools such as Tableau to provide actionable insights.
    Create and deliver presentations to clearly communicate data analysis results to program staff, leadership, and other non-technical audiences.
  • Documentation and Quality Assurance:
    Document data management procedures, processes, and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries.
    Ensure data quality through rigorous validation and verification techniques.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    Collaborate with program stakeholders to develop and key progress and outcome metrics for early childhood programs to foster data-driven decision making at the point of care and proactive program improvement
    Work w with multidisciplinary teams across facilities to promote effective data utilization and support local quality improvement initiatives.
  • Research and Evaluation
    Promote research and evaluation efforts in partnership with Office of Ambulatory Care and Population Health colleagues, including generating project ideas, creating datasets, performing analyses, and manuscript writing.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. A Masters degree or advanced clinical degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience gathering and documenting business, clinical, and/or functional requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis or related in a clinical, allied health, non-allied health, behavioral health, information technology, information services, business, analytics or related area; or, one (1) year of experience in a relevant clinical and/or healthcare administration role/function; or
  2. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of experience as described above; or
  3. A satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience.
  4. Specialty certification(s) issued by a national commercially available program, state, professional society, academic or technical institution in an area(s) listed above, may be credited on a month-to-month basis toward the required work experience for a total of one (1) year.


Department Preferences

  • Experience with:
    • SQL and/or SAS/R/Python or similar - SPSS or STATA not sufficient
    • Epic electronic medical record is strongly preferred, but not required
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Tableau strongly preferred - mentoring to deepen these skills will be available
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to diverse audiences. Must be able to effectively communicate results to programmatic partners
  • Keen understanding of methods and data, as well as an ability to break down sophisticated concepts into consumable information for multiple audiences.
  • A love of learning and a willingness to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to arrive at creative solutions
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, flexibility, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
