General Description:

Primary purpose is to support the Strategic Sourcing team and collaborate with stakeholders from various departments within the organization to provide advanced, data-driven solutions and business insights to support sourcing decisions. As an analyst in the Strategic Sourcing analytics team, you will utilize your sound business acumen, knowledge and experience in financial modeling and data mining to deliver insights and provide actionable recommendations to organizational leaders. You will be critical to the success of the department's goal of creating a Center for Cost Excellence and achieve 7-Eleven's strategic goal of being a cost leader within the convenience store industry.
  • Support RFx preparation and execution through data collection, spend analyses, RFP bids analytics and negotiations
  • Supports procurement activities for all spend areas in achieving the goal of significant initial cost reductions by conducting analyses on spend data and researching trends in relevant supply markets
  • Works closely with Category Managers and Strategic Buyers in conducting research on economic trends in key supply markets, analyzing spend data, and preparing monthly status reports


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Gain a deep understanding of key Strategic Sourcing initiatives and be able to provide analytical solutions that drive the success of these initiatives.
  • Participate in the development, design and implementation of processes that collect and report data and statistics on spending by vendor and category.
  • Develop models and dashboards to help stakeholders better understand key drivers of costs (e.g. commodities prices, inflation, business environment, legislation and the global economy).
  • Develop hypothesis-driven strategies based on data and analysis to reduce such costs (Cost of Goods Sold and OSG&A).
  • Utilize Oracle, GEP Smart and other tools to provide cost savings and other analysis
  • Work with Sourcing Managers/Buyers to evaluate cost savings opportunities for commodity-based savings
  • Communicate findings and provide actionable recommendations in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences and managers
  • Provide reporting and tracking of initiatives that reduce spend in key categories.
  • Provide a monthly commodity report to Senior Leadership that outlines trends and key drivers based on research and review of USDA reports.
  • Analyze cost increase requests from vendors and provide analysis on reasonableness of cost increase.
  • Proactively analyze commodity price changes and work with Sourcing Managers/Buyers on options to drive cost savings with vendors
  • Utilize Oracle Reporting & GEP Smart Tool to automate and simplify reporting and processes
  • Facilitate data collection and analysis to build spend base and fact packs to identify savings opportunities by categories
  • Conduct analyses on spend data/researching trends (i.e. commodity tracking, variance analyses, should cost & product teardowns, etc.)
  • Conduct supplier market research and identification
  • Build supplier bid analyses and negotiation materials
  • Coordinate sampling process and testing through RFx events
  • Assists in spend data analysis and basic financial analyses
  • Assists in preparing monthly procurement performance status reports
  • Upholds internal and external policies, regulations and laws


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Business Analytics, Economics or Finance. Master's degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in utilizing data analytics to drive business decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial modeling and reporting.
  • Proficient in Power BI and/or Tableau (e.g. building dashboards and reports).
  • Possess SQL and other query knowledge with an emphasis in data mining and modeling to create impactful management reports.
  • Advanced in the Microsoft Suite, especially MS Excel, MS Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of GEP Smart procurement software preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Oracle reporting (OBIIE) software preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve complex problems with minimal direction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of management (including C-suite executives).
