Reporting to the Senior Director, Data Analytics and supporting the organization, the Data Analyst is responsible for leveraging data to uncover insights and contribute to decision making throughout Augusta National Golf Club, the Masters Tournament and the Masters Tournament Foundation. The Data Analyst will drive continuous improvement by supporting the creation of the next generation of metrics and statistical models for the Club.

Essential Functions of the Job

Actively support projects and analysis across the entire organization through:
  • Utilizing Python, apply statistical techniques such as regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and time series forecasting to identify trends and relationships in data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Troubleshoot data-related issues, such as inconsistencies or anomalies in data sets, by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Create interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau to communicate insights effectively.
  • Gather and extract data from multiple sources, including internal databases and external platforms.
  • Apply various transformation techniques to convert raw data into usable formats for analysis.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of data by performing data quality measurement and analysis.
  • Utilize machine learning algorithms to build predictive models and uncover hidden patterns.
  • Develop and implement mathematical models using techniques like integer programming, linear programming, or dynamic programming to solve complex problems.
  • Design and implement data exploration tools to facilitate ad-hoc analysis.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data sources, methodologies, and code to ensure transparency and replicability.

  • Occasionally required to walk and work with hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds and/or drive a golf cart.
  • Constantly required to sit, sometimes for several hours at a time, and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Qualifications:

Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:
  • Ability to leverage a programming language (ex: Python) throughout the whole data analysis process
  • Ability to navigate large data sets through the writing of advanced SQL queries
  • Ability to visualize data with BI reporting tools such as Power BI and Tableau
  • Ability to communicate methodology and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Brings a curious mindset to explore and pursue innovative solutions
  • Comfortable in an ambiguous environment and ability to adapt to change and work independently
  • Strong team player that works confidently with cross functional partners and management on all aspects of the business

Relative Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of experience and training in a related field (Math, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field); Masters degree is a plus
  • Zero (0) to two (2) years of related work experience in a data science, business analytics or related field is preferred; industry experience within sports management, hospitality, or merchandising is a plus

Required License(s):
  • Possess a valid driver's license and/or successfully completes the Club's internal motor vehicle training program


Projected Work Schedule:

Normal work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
