The Executive Director (ED) reports to the Chair of the Commission who takes direction from the Commission's Executive Committee further validated by the full slate of Commissioners. The Executive Director institutes, directs, and monitors proper management, fiscal, and personnel controls as detailed in Government Code, California Code of Regulation, Commission By-Laws and State of California guidelines and policies for state agencies. The Executive Director guides and partakes in strategic planning development to attract financial support and leads the Commission in the execution of strategic plans, policies, and processes to further the Commissions goals.

Working Conditions

- Fast-paced, professional work environment with competing priorities, fiscal constraints, tight deadlines, and limited staff.

- This position is part of a distributed team that involves regular telework and reporting to the office as needed/required.

- When in the office working in a climate-controlled, open office environment, under artificial lighting; exposure to computer screens and other basic office equipment.

- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for conferences/training/meetings.

- Ability to navigate political nuances in a bi-partisan way with the aim of putting women and girls first.

    Department Information The Commission on the Status of Women and Girls (CCSWG) works in a culturally inclusive manner to promote equality and justice for all women and girls by advocating on their behalf with the Governor, the Legislature and other public policymakers, and by educating the public in the areas of economic equity including educational equity, access to health care including reproductive choice, violence against women and other key issue areas identified by the Commission as significantly affecting women and girls.
