Position Summary

The Facilities Manager position involves a dual focus between facilities management and event coordination in a fast-paced environment. This individual serves as a Facilities Manager for all Law School buildings, resources, and employees. This role will coordinate events with the Law School Events team, and assist as needed.

  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing work activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships.
  • Skill in written and verbal communication.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software, specifically Microsoft Suite, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and a high degree of discretion.
  • Independent and creative, skilled at planning, and enjoy working in a variety of environments, with a variety of faculty, staff, and students.


Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on an intermittent basis.
  • Frequently move and walk about inside the building to access rooms, sometimes in uneven terrain in varying light conditions.
  • Frequently ascend/descend stairs.

Duties/Responsibilities

Facilities Management: Building Maintenance
  • Submit maintenance work orders and assist others as needed.
  • Periodically, do a building walk through including all classrooms, public areas, restrooms, hallways, and outside areas and request any necessary repairs (i.e., broken chairs in classrooms).
  • Facilities Management staff: consult with building supervisor as needed.
  • Ensure offices for new faculty are ready (paint, carpet, furniture, telephone) and contact law computing services regarding computer needs.
  • Ensure building readiness and cleanliness for all law school events.
  • Oversee surplus property management.
  • Serve as point person during any renovations that may take place.

  • Serve as liaison with UGA Police.
  • Manage electronic lock system for law facilities.
  • Coordinate building access and security for all special events at the law school.
  • Maintain, distribute, and reorder room keys for law facilities.
  • Supervisor security and safety staff and student workers.

Facilities Management: Logistics
  • Determine Law School space allocations for departmental offices, faculty office assignments, and other staff space assignments.
  • Organize, schedule, facilitate office moves. Work with FMD or other suppliers to move furniture and equipment, telephones, data lines, and re-key doors when necessary.

Event Support
  • Coordinate event details with the Law School Events team and assist as requested.
  • Make room reservations and provide confirmations.
  • Process check requests on a timely basis and provide guests list for these check requests when needed.
  • Set up small events such as, but not limited to faculty lunches.
