Summary

This position is located at the Edward R. Murrow Transmitting Station located in Greenville, North Carolina, part of the United States Agency for Global Media, Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB). The incumbent serves as Financial Support Specialist with responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of all budget, financial, procurement, and other administrative documents and information, and for accounting records for controlling appropriated funds of over two million dollars per year.

Duties

As a Financial Support Specialist, you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to:
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reconciles transactions. Suggests methods and procedures to improve internal processes.
  • Assists in resolution of financial management system related problems, i.e. delayed payments to vendors. Generates financial reports for review and analysis.
  • Assists in developing various alternative operating plans, forecasting

    contractual expenses and rate increases, analyzing previous fiscal year experiences, and maintaining a constant review and control of current expenditures.
  • Acts as the Station's guardian for the Financial Management; a complex networked automated financial management system. Performs data entry of obligating documents including, contracts, purchase orders, credit card statements, travel authorizations, government bills of lading and miscellaneous obligating documents.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-07 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Assembling necessary program and financial data and preparing detailed reports;
  • Preparing budget documents for submission and providing full supporting data to senior management;.
  • Collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately.

Education

A Master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D. OR Superior Academic Achievement, if related.


OR

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements
