Introduction

The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA), Construction and Facility Management Office (CFMO), is seeking a Limited Term Employment (LTE) Groundskeeper . This position is responsible for general grounds maintenance and upkeep at the Madison facilities and other Area 1 locations which includes Beloit, Janesville, Richland Center, and Prairie du Chien.

Our Joint Force Headquarters location is near Madison College and adjacent to the Dane County Regional Airport with access to major highways. Our facility includes a fantastic fitness center, indoor pickleball court, and free on-site parking.

Position Summary

As a Department of Military Affairs Groundskeeper, you will complete maintenance and upkeep of lawn, sidewalk, and parking areas. Maintain trees and shrubs by trimming in the spring and fall, keep fence lines and other areas clear of weeds and brush, keep the entire exterior area clear of paper and debris, complete minor maintenance, and repair activities on ground related equipment, and complete all required preventative maintenance functions . Maintains adequate inventory supplies, materials, and equipment to accomplish all job-related duties. On occasion will provide support for maintenance requirements at other DMA facilities.

Salary Information

The pay will be $16.18 per hour.

Job Details

All applicants will be required to allow the DMA to conduct a background clearance check to gain access to the installation.

Will have a valid driver's license (from any state) for travel to various DMA locations throughout Wisconsin. Limited Term Employees must be a resident of Wisconsin.

Ability to lift to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, twist and climb ladders.

Previous or current military experience is not a requirement.

The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

All new employees are required to attend a New Employee Orientation course on the first business day (Monday; Tuesday if Monday is a state holiday) of their first pay period.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have training and/or experience:

Operating and repairing lawn mowers, snow blowers, floor scrubbers, and other mechanical equipment.

Maintaining and upkeep of landscape to include lawns, sidewalks, and parking areas.

Performing preventative maintenance and repairs to necessary maintenance equipment.
