The Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Department has an opening for a Stowage Systems Engineer to support the creation, management and maintenance of stowage data for new construction submarines. The ILS Stowage Group plays an important role in the management of submarine stowage specifications, the execution of the stowage management process, and the management and delivery of the stowage data for each delivered submarine.

Work scope includes:
  • Review and manage stowage requirements to meet submarine stowage specifications
  • Support the development of submarine stowage plans, policies and training
  • Work with the Stowage Management Team (Arrangements Design and Internal Structures) and Design/Engineering to review, approve, and stow special stowage items
  • Evaluate submarine design changes (ER/CN) for impacts to stowages
  • Conduct technical interaction with other engineering departments to resolve technical issues
  • Analyze the current stowage processes to identify risks and recommend mitigations
  • Engage with IT Department to improve the Stowage Database functionality
  • Engage with US and the UK Navy to define and satisfy joint stowage requirements
  • Assist with process improvements and systems engineering techniques to improve the Stowage Management performance
  • Support the Warehouse, Receiving, and Facilities for outfitting endeavors
The selected individual will be expected to interface internally with Arrangements, Structural Design, and Structural Engineering on a daily basis, and also participate in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) cross training to understand the other ILS functional areas. The selected individual may also interface externally with the NAVSEA Submarine Program Office and other NAVSEA contractors.

Qualifications

Required:
  • B.S of Science in Engineering or related technical degree (Logistics or Operational preferred)
  • 2+ years of Stowage System Experience
  • Proficient with Logistics Data System Stowage Function
  • Proficient with Teamcenter Stowage Management Function
  • Proficient with the VA & CLB Design Change Management Process
  • Proficient with process mapping
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of the submarine stowage process
  • Knowledge of the submarine outfitting process
  • Knowledge of component/system disclosures/drawings as they apply to submarine stowage
  • Basic understanding of the Provisioning and COSAL processes
  • Basic knowledge of submarine systems
  • Secret Clearance
