Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and Experimentation:
    • Perform a variety of cell biology experiments following established methodologies, including SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and various microscopy techniques.
    • Prepare and maintain cell cultures, including stem cells, and differentiate them into neurons, astrocytes, and other terminal cell fates.
  • Data Management and Analysis:
    • Record, summarize, and analyze data using basic statistical methods.
    • Maintain detailed records in lab notebooks and electronic archives as directed by the Principal Investigator (PI).
    • Store pooled data in statistical data management software (e.g., GraphPad Prism) and perform routine statistical analyses (t-test, ANOVA, two-way ANOVA, etc.).
  • Laboratory Maintenance:
    • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper disposal of chemicals and biological materials.
    • Prepare reagents, clean glassware, and perform general lab maintenance.
    • Organize and oversee the ordering of general lab supplies in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assist with other laboratory duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:

$15 - $19/hr commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree in an appropriate area and two years of related experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a research laboratory setting for one or more years with experience in cell culture, immunocytochemistry, microscopy and biochemistry
  • Prior work with cell culture or molecular biology
  • Ability to work independently, analyze and present data, multitask, and maintain close communication with the PI (supervisor).
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills; detail oriented.
  • Sound degree of computer literacy.
  • Ability to methodically record data and to analyze data using basic statistics.
  • Ability to perform a variety of routine tasks and prioritize work.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism.
