Job Description:
This position will report to Dr. Gibson, and the individual in the role will be expected to work with, and be directed by a post-doctoral fellow and/or Lab Manger to achieve the research goals of the laboratory. Principal duties include general lab activities such as supporting the research projects of other lab members, stocking laboratory supplies, assisting with ordering, sterilization, lab organization, maintaining accurate records of research activities (lab notebook), and other laboratory duties as assigned by the lab PI.
Applicants with strong desire to learn new techniques and enjoy working in a dynamic lab with multiple ongoing projects are encouraged to apply.
Currently we are detailing how the immune system responds to oral anaerobic - using Porphyromonas gingivalis as a model organism from which to study the bacterial-elicited inflammation that develops during periodontal disease.
Expected Salary:
$16.00-$18.00 Hourly
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Experience and understanding of an active research laboratory environment, and how to work safely in this environment is essential. Interest/experience working on projects detailing bacterial and/or host respond to bacteria is an important element of this position. Experience or basic understanding of one or more of the following: molecular (DNA/RNA work), Immunologic (cytokine analysis/flow cytometry),bacterial culture , cell culture, animal work is/are desirable assets for the position. Understanding/experience with sterile/aseptic techniques, and laboratory support tasks are also important for this position.
